LogoTen young hopefuls who signed up for what they thought was yet another dance competition called "Dance Nation" were eager to meet their new partners.

Would they be celebrities, as on "Dancing With the Stars"? Or other professionals, as in "America's Ballroom Challenge"? Or gangs of people, as in the recently completed "Dance Wars" or the current "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Crew"?

Nope. Their new partners were their moms and dads.

And that's the twist on the show, whose actual title comes from that Loggins & Messina song that was also a hit for Poison: "Your Mama Don't Dance" (Lifetime, 9 and 10 p.m.).

If it's any consolation for contestants, somebody from "Dancing With the Stars" is involved — Ian Ziering, who hosts.

The five male and female dancers range in age from 19 to 31, their parents from 43 to 54. Judges will pick the worst pairs each week; home viewers will decide who goes.

The last team standing in the April 18 finale wins $100,000 in prizes.
